The product

A wall system, not just a brick

Gaia produces compressed stabilized earth blocks from soil, sand, cement, and lime, pressed on a hydraulic press at El Tiempo Ranch. The interlocking design lets blocks stack together without mortar, subject to final engineering and code pathway. The goal is a cleaner, lower-labor alternative to conventional wall construction.

Structure

A reinforced skeleton inside the wall

The plan: every 4 ft, both vertically and horizontally, rebar is set and the block cores are filled with concrete. The blocks work as the form, and the wall ends up with a reinforced frame running through it. Chip away every block and the frame is still standing. Scale it up and the whole house is one skeleton.
